I’ve been seeing increasingly more jacked up trucks for sale, and the fad puzzles me. There are only a few good reasons one could want a this type of vehicle, and a couple of those three really have to do with the satisfaction of making an impressive looking, big raised truck. So why so much buying and selling jacked up trucks as of late?
The primary reason most people want jacked up trucks is for the off roading capability. The increased ground clearance and larger, stronger tires help make this type of truck more capable of handling greater off-road obstacles. Back in my first years of truck modifications, capability was essentially the only reason truck owners raised the suspension of their truck.
Another reason people jacked up their vehicles appeared to be for the satisfaction of transforming their vehicle to become more massive and better equipped. These trucks were a challenge mechanically and the time and effort put into them rendered mechanical miracles. This often went along with far better off roading capability, but the true ambition was to just appreciate the mechanics of the process and the satisfaction of a finalized endeavor.
The third legitimate reason people want jacked up trucks appears to be the most common rationale in recent times, and that’s the pride related to being the owner of, driving and showcasing a big monster of a pickup. It appears the off-road ability and the mechanics of the endeavor has become second to just owning that high clearance lifted truck.
And I guess that’s why we can find numerous jacked up trucks for sale nowadays. To me it is sad, but I guess I am glad to see general truck enthusiasm continues and grows in some form instead of dying completely like some other areas of the truck world. Jacked up trucks seem to be here to stay.
